Dana White’s Zuffa Boxing will claim its inaugural title next month.
The latest boxing promotion offers huge hope for the sport to break the mold set by the four major sanctioning bodies: WBC, WBA, WBO and IBF.
While White may have recently walked back his previous commitment not to work with these organizations, he continues to push for the introduction of a Zuffa title, with the lightweight division set to host its first title fight.
Marquee sign Jai Opetaia as he announces move to Zuffa, reiterating his desire to become undisputed through a traditional systemwill compete for the gold belt with the powerful Brandon Granton on March 8. Granton has knocked out opponents 18 times since Lost to Chris Billam Smith last year Defeated Marcus Browne. Opetaia – the IBF lightweight world champion since 2022 with a brief hiatus in 2023 – is undefeated and considered the best in the division.

With the signing still ongoing, it remains to be seen how Opetaia, or rather Granton, will defend his belt following this conflict. However, what fans are interested in is how the IBF plays out.
With Opetaia still keen on facing WBC champion Noel Michailian or WBA and WBO champion Gilberto Ramirez, the IBF must sanction this defense – or some form of unification – for him to retain his title. Granton is currently ranked 15th on the sanctioning body. The game takes place on March 8 at Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
