CSK’s succession plan fails as Rs 14.2-crore Ravindra Jadeja gets injured ahead of IPL 2026

Suddenly, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) fans were faced with an unexpected and disturbing moment during the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy match when their expensive uncapped bowler Prashant Veer received a knock on the pitch and was subsequently rushed to the hospital for further medical procedures.

Veer sustained the injury, possibly a grade II injury, during the Jharkhand vs Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy match at the Ekana Cricket Ground in Lucknow before lunch. The non-playing Indian cricketers threw themselves to the ground to stop the ball and Jharkhand batsman Shikhar Mohan hit the ball firmly. Ware stopped the ball but was injured himself.

Prashant Veer’s injury leaves CSK fans heartbroken

The incident occurred in the 30th inning of the first game, before the lunch break. The 20-year-old cricketer from Amethi lay motionless on the ground for a while and covered his shoulders, which caused a lot of panic among cricket fans, especially among CSK fans as their favorite team had invested a lot of money and believed in his talent.

It is reported that CSK recruit Veer has been admitted to the hospital for further medical support and is unlikely to participate in the match again. The awkward landing may have hurt his right shoulder.

When he returned to the court, his shoulder was supported in a sling. The injury could keep him out for three weeks.

Prashant Veer ruled out of cricket match

According to ESPNcricinfo, “Weir was immediately given a pain-relieving spray, but he was taken off the field and taken to hospital for scans. When he returned, his arm was in a sling. He is unlikely to play again.”

“It is understood that Ware has suffered a grade two tear which may rule him out of action for at least three weeks,” it was further informed.

The left-handed all-rounder, known for his batting prowess, hit the jackpot when he was acquired at the IPL 2026 auction for a whopping Rs 14.2 crore, making him one of the most expensive uncapped players in the history of IPL, joining Kartik Sharma as the team’s high-profile young signing. Ware received a record salary ahead of the league, and expectations were high.

Jharkhand leads the race

In Jharkhand vs Uttar Pradesh Ranji Trophy match, Jharkhand is currently dominating and quite comfortable as they still have 9 wickets remaining and scored 285 runs after playing 88 overs. For their part, opening partnership Mohan and Sharandeep Singh claimed a combined partnership of 147 runs.

Singh scored his second first-class hundred and remained unbeaten after the first day, while Mohan departed with a score of 78. Currently, Sharandeep Singh is tied with No. 3 batsman Aryaman Sen, who has already hit half a century.
