Trainer Greg Hackett says if Terrence Crawford beats Canelo Alvarez in 2025, he will become the best boxer of the past 30 years.
If Crawford beats his best Canelo and is considered the best boxer of the past 30 years, that ignores many great boxers who have done more than him.
We already know how Crawford will choose to take advantage Mayweather Blueprint Hit and run. He’s not going to stand in front of Canelo and trade shots.
Terrance plays it safe and keeps the fight boring. Fans will be angry about wasting money by ordering matches on PPV.
Hackett already views Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) as the man to hold world titles in four weight classes and be the undisputed No. 1 in two weight classes. It’s hard to agree with Hackett because Crawford’s wins at these four levels weren’t against any one particular opponent.
If you’ve watched Canelo’s last two fights against Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia, you know that at 34 years old, he’s past his prime. He is 19 years old as a professional player. The first two fights with Gennady Golovkin saw Canelo work hard and he hasn’t looked the same since.
Measuring Crawford’s legacy
crawford just Another Adrien Broner in this regard. Broner also held world titles in four weight classes, but his resume was as thin as Bader’s. It shows you how the four letter titles are watered down for fighters to pick and choose with the help of crafty promoters to capture the belts.
Bader’s Best Victory
– Israel Madrimov
——Errol Spence
——Sean Porter
“Kel Brook.”
——Aamir Khan
—— Yuriorkis Gamboa
——Ricky Burns
——Victor Postol
You have to simply think these wins are enough to make Crawford the #1 p-4-p or the best boxer of the past 30 years. Based on those wins, all I can say is that his promoter matched Crawford very carefully.
Those fighters weren’t enough to give Crawford credit for beating them because they were mostly already down by the time he fought them. Madrimov was the only one not shot, and he came close to defeating Crawford in his 12th professional fight.
If Crawford can beat the fading 34-year-old Canelo, he won’t be the best player of the past 30 years because he won’t have the same kind of wins as the former six-division world champion. Oscar De La Hoya Or eight level champions Manny Pacquiao have done so in their careers. These two are the best.
You can’t include Crawford in that because he fought weaker opponents, and the same goes for Floyd Mayweather Jr. “Money Plum” is too picky about the opponents he plays and spends too much time picking to protect his precious O. Floyd was the catalyst for this generation of cherry pickers. He is a teacher.
“Tank is a beast, but I think all things being equal, Bud (Crawford) is No. 1. A lot of times, people question him. They suspect he’s targeting (Erroll) Spence. They There’s some doubt that he’s against (Israel) Madrimov and I hear them,” Greg Hackett said. YSM Sports Media About his belief that Terrence Crawford should be ranked No. 1 at his weight.
“When he fought Victor Postol, he (Crawford) was too small. When he fought (Yuriolkis) Gamboa, he didn’t know enough. There was a lot of garbage. If He beat Canelo and he was the worst mom in the last 30 years,” Hackett said of Terrence.
“Now in the game, it has to be Bud and then probably Inoue,” continued Hackett, who believes Crawford should be the No. 1 in the sport. “Bud, people don’t understand. He was counted out a long time ago. He keeps winning and beating a lot of guys.
It’s too early to say whether Crawford will fight Canelo in 2025. There’s nothing official yet, and there’s a good chance Canelo will turn down the fight. This is a no-win fight for Canelo because Crawford will get more out of it than he does. If he beats Crawford, there’s no real gain. Crawford beating Canelo would be huge and the payday would be huge too. For Crawford, the money alone was a win.
Title restrictions
“Tanks have always been 130, 135-pounders. People try to say tanks are 126-pounders,” Hackett said. “I played a few cards with Tank. He never really got to 126. I mean Bud was doing great at 135, 140, 147 and just won a belt at 154.
“Champion at 135, undisputed at 140 and 147, right? And then won another belt at 154. He’s still undefeated,” Hackett said of Crawford. “He’s improved a lot and had a lot of people who were supposed to beat him. A lot of people were too big for him. Too fast, too strong. It was supposed to be too much experience that he beat them all. He Gave Gamboa his first defeat.”
Then again, winning world titles in four weight divisions doesn’t mean Crawford is great because he didn’t beat anyone to win his four weight division titles.
