Jerome Tang’s comments about his players went viral on the internet after Kansas State’s 91-62 home loss on Wednesday. The fourth-year coach was unabashed in his criticism of his players during his postgame press conference.
Don announced wildcats Players don’t deserve to wear the team’s uniform and their abilities as players are questioned.
“It’s embarrassing,” he said. “These guys don’t deserve to wear this uniform and there’s going to be very few people wearing this uniform next year. I’m embarrassed for the university, I’m embarrassed for our fans and our student section. It’s ridiculous.”
However, his comments sparked a lot of backlash, as fans reacted to his outburst on social media, especially Instagram.

A highlight of K-State’s season under Jerome Tang
Kansas State is going through a tough season with a 10-14 record, including a 1-10 record in conference play. Jerome Don’s outburst was understandable, as the loss to Cincinnati was the Wildcats’ third straight home loss by at least 24 points. This is also the team’s fifth consecutive loss.
The players performed very poorly, with Cincinnati hitting 16 three-pointers. That set a record for the second-most three-point field goals conceded in program history. Perhaps the highlight of the team’s poor form was the inability to block a free throw, allowing Cincinnati players to grab the rebound.
During the first half timeout, the Wildcats trailed by 22 points before the eighth timeout and were booed by fans.
But Don Jerome seems to be causing more trouble for the fans than the players. Several students in the stands wore paper bags on their heads with messages calling on Don to pay his $18.6 million buyout. When asked about this move by fans, he responded:
“If I were them, I’d wear a paper bag too.”
He then left the interview.
