Cheerleader stabbed to death by ex-boyfriend days before Christmas, family claims

The family of Angelina Camilia Gonzalez claims the young woman’s ex-boyfriend is responsible.

Gonzalez’s family told Local radio station KABC On December 20, her ex-boyfriend picked her up from a cheerleading party.

Around 10 p.m. that night, officers from the Azusa Police Department discovered Gonzalez suffering from stab wounds. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

The family claims one of them was able to track Gonzalez’s phone to her ex-boyfriend’s home, KABC reported.

“When I got there, there was crime scene tape, forensics, all kinds of stuff. I ran up to the police and said, ‘Hey, my daughter is there. You know, my daughter is there. I, she’s not home. That’s when they told me, sit down for a minute,” Angelina’s stepfather, Robert Caraballo, told KABC.

Caraballo said he repeatedly told his stepdaughter to stay away from her ex-boyfriend, but he also said she had a “big heart and always saw the good in him.”

Gonzalez will turn 18 on Jan. 7, according to a GoFundMe page created by her mother, Letica Carabello.

“She has a great future. She has a heart of gold. She is my perfect angel baby,” Letika Carabello wrote. “I don’t even have words. I can’t even cope. I need her. Our family is devastated. We appreciate all the support and love. Thank you everyone.”
