Cesco Strikes to a thrilling victory after blowing a two-goal lead


Manchester United Fulham fought back from two goals down to win 3-2 in a thrilling encounter Premier League game

Raul Jimenez and Kevin calmed Old Trafford with two late goals to cancel out strikes from Casemiro and Mathias Cunha, but Benjamin Cesko moments later in stoppage time gave Michael Carrick his third successive win as United interim manager.

The win moves the Red Devils back up to fourth in the Premier League as they match top four rivals Chelsea and Liverpool with wins on Saturday.

He also continued Carrick’s 100% start to life, beating Manchester City and Arsenal as well as Fulham so far since replacing Ruben Amorim.

As Man Utd v Fulham happened

United went ahead on 19 minutes after VAR reversed the penalty to a free-kick. Bruno Fernandes turned it at the back post and Casemiro drove a header into the corner.

Fulham had a spell of the ball and saved Sane Lemmens from Harry Wilson’s free-kick and blocked Joachim Anderson from close range, but their best moments failed.

The hosts then went 2-0 up at the break on 56 minutes, Casemiro threading a pass into the box for Cunha, who finished past Bernd Leno for the first time.

Jorge Cuenca then thought he had reduced the deficit when he tapped home from close range following a deflection but a lengthy VAR check resulted in the goal being ruled out for a very tight offside.

Cesco almost wrapped up the game a minute after going in front but his header crashed off the woodwork before sending another effort into the roof of the net.

Fulham were down but certainly unstoppable in the final 10 minutes and a chance was called for for Raul Jimenez, whose shot deflected off Harry Maguire before Joachim Anderson saw a header flash wide as Seine Lemmens tipped the ball over.

The visitors were then awarded a penalty while Maguire and Jimenez made new acquaintances as the defender brought down the striker with a desperate lunge.

Jimenez lowered himself and fired a spotkick into the top corner to set up a grandstand finish at the Theater of Dreams.

And Kevin then silenced Old Trafford with a superb effort into the top corner to find an equalizer as Carrick made the first stumbles in his charge.

But Cesco fired the Red Devils back, bringing down Fernandes’ ball before firing it into the back of the net.
