Summary

Centerpoint Energy is an electric and gas company with about seven million measured customers. It has electrical distribution and transmission, distribution and small generation operations. The company is headquartered in Texas Rica in Gas and regulated the electric service in Texas and Ohio, but it also serves clients in Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi and Indiana. The regulated gas service is in in, mn, oh and tx. Its Indiana utility has a relatively small generation capacity of about 1.3 GW. CNP has about 4.7 GW of total energy production. Its fuel mixture is still highly dependent on fossil fuels, with almost 85% of its Indiana generation from coal. The company has closed two coal floors and operates a coal plant remaining in Indiana, it plans to turn the remaining plant into natural gas by 2027. CNP projects will have 80% renewable by 2030.
