Cesco will eventually grab the headlines, but it was also another fine attacking performance from the aforementioned Cunha, who has now impressed with two goals and an assist in three games overseen by Carrick.

Casemiro’s ignored assist was the perfect moment for Cunha’s powerful strike, and the 33-year-old was further involved in the goal to cap off another clinical performance from the defensive midfielder.

In addition to the goalscorers, Bruno Fernandez dazzled the Theater of Dreams crowd with two assists, while Amad Diallo played an important role on the right wing of Carrick’s side, amassing three successful dribbles and winning six duels.

Last but certainly not the last, Coby Mainu once again impressed as a first-team player under Michael Carrick, with the No. 37 anchoring the midfield alongside Casemiro and winning seven heroic duels himself.

But not every member of the bench coach’s starting lineup is at the top of their game.

Manchester United’s worst team vs. Fulham

It was far from the home side’s finest defensive display and Harry Maguire’s late penalty from Raul Jimenez provided the visitors with a much-needed lifeline.

After confidently kicking the penalty, Kevin made it 2-2 thanks to some lax marking, with Maguire’s equally experienced defensive partner, Luke Shawwhich is not optimal in end-to-end competition.

So far, Shaw has put his injury demons behind him, which is a major positive for a defender who has grown accustomed to the confines of the treatment room.

Still, even though he’s been selected as United’s first-choice left-back all season, that doesn’t mean he won’t perform poorly here and there, with the 30-year-old winning just one of his six games against Silva’s side all afternoon.

Additionally, No. 23 failed to win a tackle as he was quiet throughout, causing Shaw to also appear a bit underdeveloped in the forward area, failing to provide an accurate cross or successful dribble. In contrast, Shaw was much more involved against Arsenal, winning the highest number of five duels and making just one pass error.

Carrick has a selection conundrum here, as there is no other recognized left-back in the Red Devils camp at his disposal. Diogo Dalot could step in to fill the void if required, as the 44-year-old assesses whether the change is the right one ahead of United’s next game against Tottenham Hotspur.

The concern is that Shaw’s individual performance was rusty against Fulham and whether he would start to lose some sharpness if he was beaten mercilessly.

For the most part, though, Carrick will be delighted with his side’s performance as they battled back to seal all three points as the Red Devils look to continue their new manager’s 100% winning streak when Spurs next come to town.
