Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed he wants to stay as Real Madrid manager “for as long as possible”.
Madrid have long been tipped to move on from Ancelotti at the end of the season, but Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso has spoken up as a possible successor, while reports have also named Ancelotti as a potential target for Serie A side Roma.
Ancelotti, with whom he is under contract Madrid As of 2026, he has made it clear that he does not wish to step down from his position anytime soon.
“There’s a lot of talk about (Roma), but I’m fine here and working to stay as long as possible,” he said. “(Roma manager Claudio) Ranieri is a friend and he is doing very well, I am happy.
“I have a good relationship with Roma, a lot of good memories, but there is a long way to go from saying to doing. Right now I’m fine here and I’m not thinking about my future. I still have two years. Contract, but break the contract. or can be extended.”
Ancelotti has previously vowed not to manage another club when his tenure with Madrid ends, although he has long been linked with a switch to international football with prominent Brazilian fans.
For Madrid, the former boss Zinedine Zidane is believed to be open to a return If he ever decides to make a managerial comeback.
