A historic military academy is thrust into an unexpected battle this week on Fox News Digital’s Campus Radicals investigative series, while Chicago faculty stir up trouble and a nurse at a teaching hospital is fired for all the wrong reasons.
Virginia Democrats criticized for threatening funding to historic military institute VMI over DEI concerns
Virginia Democrats introduced a resolution in the state’s House of Representatives on Tuesday that would create a Task Force Investigating Virginia Military Institute and determine whether the historic military academy should continue to receive funding.
The latest effort by Virginia Democrats to reinvigorate the state’s diversity, equity and inclusion policies follows the rollback of most DEI mandates and policies following President Donald Trump’s election in 2024.
“It takes away from VMI, it takes away from its mission,” Rep. Rob Wittman, R-Va., told Fox Digital News. “I think it’s harmful to the Commonwealth of Virginia, it’s harmful to VMI as an institution, it’s harmful to all of the incredible military leaders and community leaders that are at VMI.”
“It’s reprehensible that they would go down this path,” Whitman added. “But that seems to be what’s happening in Richmond.”

VMI cadets fight back against Virginia Democrats’ threat to military academy

“I would say there’s a little bit of confusion on the cadet side,” Ferrara said. “One of the bills calls into question VMI’s contribution to the nation’s commonwealth, when the school has done nothing but produce prestigious men and women prepared to serve their country.”
“We have about 300 generals and officers from the Virginia Military Institute,” Ferrara added. “We have seven Medal of Honor recipients, 11 Rhodes Scholars, one Nobel Prize winner.”
Ferrara graduated from VMI this spring and was commissioned as a development engineer in the U.S. Air Force. He told Fox he attended VMI because he wanted to serve his country.
Chicago teacher suspended after Facebook post supporting ICE sparks outrage from activists
A Chicago-area teacher is on administrative leave and facing calls to lose her job over a Facebook post last week Provide support to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ice).
Teachers at Gary Elementary School in West Chicago posted “GO ICE” on Facebook last week. Shortly after the post was posted, activists in the predominantly Hispanic community quickly began sharing it and calling for action against the teacher, who Fox News Digital is not naming due to safety concerns.

“Imagine being a teacher at an elementary school in West Chicago with a large Latino community and promoting ICE, sick AF,” one social media post said.
Another commenter called the teacher a “f****** s***.”
Chicago teachers union sparks backlash over video of ICE harassing Target employees as test scores plummet
Chicago Teachers Union Member Filmed himself protesting federal immigration enforcement On Friday, a local Target department store took anti-DEI measures, sparking criticism online and from experts who spoke to Fox News Digital.
In a video released by the union on Tuesday, Target members can be seen carrying anti-ICE signs into the Chicago area, harassing employees and demanding answers about whether Target will “protect” its employees from ICE.

“As a private company, Target has a choice,” the post said. “They could use their Fourth Amendment rights to post signs requiring ICE to present a search warrant to enter their buildings. Instead, they are allowing their own employees and customers to be harmed while continuing to roll back DEI commitments and give in to pressure from the Trump Administration.”
VCU anti-ICE nurse fired after mentioning paralyzing drugs in video instructing ‘sabotage’ ICE agents
A nurse at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health Center was fired after making a series of videos Suggested ways to harm ICE agents.
“Following an investigation, the individual involved in the social media video is no longer employed by VCU Health,” the hospital told Fox News Digital in a statement Tuesday evening. “In addition, VCU Health has complied with reporting requirements under Virginia law.”
On Tuesday morning, the hospital said it and VCU police were investigating the nurse’s posts after they went viral.
“We prioritize the health and safety of anyone who comes to us for care. We are aware of a series of videos that appear to have been posted by an individual identified as an employee of our health system,” Virginia Commonwealth University told Fox News Digital in a statement. “The content of the videos is highly inappropriate and does not reflect the integrity or values of our health system.”

In one video, the nurse instructs others to use “sabotage tactics” against opponents, captioned simply “#ice #resistance #sabotage.”
“I thought of something good,” she said.
“A sabotage tactic, or at least a scare tactic. All the medical providers, grabbing some syringes with a needle on the end,” she said. “Keep them full of saline or succinylcholine, you know, whatever. Whatever. That might act as a deterrent. Stay safe.”
Succinylcholine is an anesthetic that causes rapid, short-acting muscle paralysis. The paralyzing effect usually lasts four to six minutes.
Healthcare watchdog unloads VCU after nurse fired for viral anti-ICE TikTok video suggesting drug use
“VCU has a rich history, as we document in Do No Harm Promote extreme identity politics Kristina Rasmussen, executive director of Do No Harm, told Fox News Digital. “Now they act surprised when radicalism sprouts from the soil of toxic ideology.”
The organization represents employees and students in the medical field, as well as patients and policymakers who work to keep identity politics out of medical education, research, and clinical practice. Do No Harm often opposes DEI initiatives and youth-centered gender ideologies in medicine.
“When medical schools and hospitals allow radical politics to shape curriculum, they end up training harmful activists instead of skilled medical professionals,” Rasmussen continued. “VCU Health firing this nurse is the bare minimum response. How can patients feel safe when they walk through their doors unless they clean up their act?”
St. John’s Student Union denies Turning Point chapter official club status for second time
Students at a Catholic school in Queens, N.Y., are denying their classmates the chance to start one Turning Point Campus Chapter USA Last November.

Student leaders at St. John’s University have rejected TPUSA’s request for formal recognition as a club, a school spokesman confirmed Wednesday morning. The first time is in 2021.
“At St. John’s University, the sole authority to approve or deny new student organizations rests solely with the Student Government, Inc. (SGI),” Brian Brown told Fox News Digital. “The four-round organizational power process is designed to introduce or revitalize clubs/organizations to the St. John’s campus.”
During the fall semester, only four of 19 proposed organizations received SGI approval, he said.
“We encourage St. John’s students interested in Turning Point USA to reapply to SGI in the spring or pursue other existing alternatives for department-funded organizational support,” he said.
University of Minnesota student group joins forces with far-left activists to lead anti-ICE ‘national shutdown’
Several student groups at the University of Minnesota leading what they called a “national shutdown” They were joined by far-left activists from across the country to protest federal immigration enforcement.
The university’s Black Student Union posted a post on its Instagram page directing others to a page called Nationalshutdown.us where they could support the day of action. Protesters refused to go to work and school on Friday and pledged not to shop.

“The only way we can get justice for Alex Pretti, Renee Good, and the countless others murdered by ICE is with a nationwide lockdown,” the Instagram post said. “Can’t work. Can’t go to school. Can’t shop. Vote NO to ICE funding.”
The Black Student Union tops the list of Day of Action supporters, along with the school’s Somali, Ethiopian and Liberian Student Associations. The University of Minnesota Graduate Student Union also supported the event.
