A woman’s recent post on Reddit has sparked widespread outrage and concern among social media users after she shared her disturbing experience with a taxi driver who offered unsolicited marriage advice. The woman told how the driver, despite her attempts to ignore him, launched into a long lecture about the ideal age for women to get married, suggesting she should consider tying the knot 19 years
In her post, the woman expressed her frustration, stating that she usually prefers to listen to music during her journeys and avoids interacting with drivers. However, on this occasion, the driver persisted in asking him personal questions, including his marital status. He described how he commented on her appearance, saying she looked “of marriageable age” and continued his unsolicited advice even after she stopped responding.
“He started by asking me if I’m married. By this point I was already feeling uncomfortable so I shrugged. Then he starts giving me a long lecture about how important it is for girls to get married at 18/19 and how I seem to be of marriageable age.”
After becoming frustrated by these continued remarks, the woman wrote that she politely asked him to mind his own business. “But this man won’t stop!! He keeps repeating the same thing until finally my landing spot arrives and I’m put out of my misery. As I descend, he tries to tell me not to feel bad about everything that’s going on say and he’s just trying to tell me the right thing,” she continued.
Highlighting her displeasure with the situation, she concluded her post by saying: “How are random men so comfortable giving advice to completely random women on what they should do and when they should get married? What a great start to week”.
The woman reported the incident to the taxi company and gave the driver a low rating, noting that while she normally refrains from such actions, her comments crossed a line.
Social media users reacted strongly to his post, with many suggesting he take further action against the driver. One commenter advised her to report the incident to customer service, emphasizing the importance of maintaining professionalism in the service industry.
A user shared ger’s experience: “I remember that day there was no uber available in that area so I was forced to go without auto connect. That guy kept making sarcastic comments about my appearance continuously. She was clearly charging me 2 times compared to the other passenger girl so I asked her and she said “jo a muh dekh ke cobra krta hu”
Others offered humorous suggestions on how to handle unsolicited advice, such as responding with questions about the driver’s lifestyle choices.
This incident follows another recent report of a woman who claimed to have had a terrifying encounter with an Ola cab driver, who allegedly threatened her during a ride.
