Brazilian beef exports to the United States fell by 41%, while exports to China increased by 38%.

Brazil’s beef exports to China are increasing as part of the Asian country’s larger strategy to avoid agricultural imports from the United States amid an ongoing trade dispute.
Brazil’s beef exports to China rose 38.3% year-on-year in September to 187,340 tons, industry group Abrafrigo said on Wednesday, helping push monthly export totals to a record high.

Global demand for beef helps Brazil offsets impact of U.S. tariffs “Regarding its export,” Abulafrigo said. In August, U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration imposed 50% tariffs on a variety of Brazilian goods, including beef, which was already subject to 26.4% tariffs.
Latin America’s largest economy has been expanding exports to new and traditional markets amid a global trade reshuffle. Triggered by U.S. tariffs A similar trend was seen in soybean exports, which also reached record levels.
In September, total beef exports, including fresh and processed meat, edible offal and beef tallow, generated revenue of $1.92 billion, with export volume reaching 373,867 tons, a year-on-year increase of 49% in value and 17% in volume.
“This strong performance, which comes in the second month since the United States imposed additional tariffs on Brazilian products, demonstrates the industry’s resilience and ability to seize new business opportunities,” Abrafrigo said.
In September this year, exports to the United States, Brazil’s second largest beef market, fell 41% to $102.9 million.
The EU emerged as the second largest destination last month, followed by Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. EU procurement totaled US$131.7 million, a year-on-year increase of 106%.
Abrafrigo said 130 countries have increased purchases of Brazilian beef this year, while 48 countries have decreased purchases.
