‘Bonaly flip’: Olympic skating backflip pays tribute to French pioneer




American skater Ilia Malinin’s backflip to win the gold medal at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics has sparked a flurry of tributes to France’s Surya Bonaly, who became the first skater to pull off a daring flip on one skate at the Nagano Games nearly three decades ago – when the move was still banned.
