Berkshire-owned lender sued by CFPB over ‘unaffordable’ loans

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau sued Vanderbilt Mortgage & Finance Inc. in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, claiming that the company’s lending process “ignored clear and obvious red flags that some consumers are unable to pay their debts as they terms. ,” according to the complaint.
