David Benavidez says he’d love to fight Alexander Usyk, but prefers to wait “Five or six years” before facing him. He believes he needs “more experience” before fighting heavyweight champion Usyk (23-0, 12 KOs). Alexander won’t wait for Benavidez. If he lacks the confidence to fight him now, that fight won’t happen.

Usyk wait: 5-6 years

Benavidez said he would probably still fight if he was asked to fight. He admits this will be one of the toughest periods of his career, which is an understatement.

Usyk is highly skilled and will take advantage of Benavidez’s habit of leaving himself open because of his big punches. “The Mexican-Ecuadorian-American Monster” Benavidez didn’t have to change his fighting style because he spent the first decade of his career fighting smaller guys while competing at 168 pounds.

In his recent debut at 175, Oleksandr Gvozdyk landed a lot of punches as he tried to overpower him with volume, and by the end of the 12th round, His face looked like it had been run over by a tow truck.

If Benavidez moved up to heavyweight or lightweight to face Usyk, he wouldn’t be able to use size against Usyk or he would be broken up and embarrassed. This style is only suitable for smaller or weaker fighters.

Benavidez will face WBA regular David Morel (11-0, 9 KOs) 39 days later on February 22 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas via PPB and Prime Video PPV.

This fight will showcase Benavidez’s size in the 175-pound division. If he can’t beat Morel, he’ll probably have to go back to 168 if he can, as he’ll only get worse against other killers at 175.

“I’m going to hurt David Morel”

“Anyone watching this fight is going to have a great time. I’m 100 percent ready,” said David Benavidez fight hypediscussing his Feb. 22 fight in Las Vegas against WBA “regular” light heavyweight champion David Morel.

“I’ve been training for almost four and a half months. I’m not going to leave any stone unturned, I’m very motivated for this fight. Not just to get the win, but to get the knockout. I’m going in and I’m going to hurt David Morel.

“I’m going to make him eat his words, and when I knock him out and take his belt away, he’s going to know who’s the best in the world,” Benavidez said.

With the power of Morel’s left and right hands, if he fights like he has before, he has a good chance of knocking out Benavidez in this fight. Morel hits too hard and he knocks out Benavidez, just like he did with Senna Agbeko and Falcao Yamaguchi. The guys put up a good fight against Morel, but he took them down quickly.

“I don’t think I have enough experience to fight Usyk,” Benavidez said when asked if he would fight Alexander Usyk. “Never say never. Maybe in the future, but for now, I’m just focusing on these guys. Maybe five or six years from now, but by then, he’ll probably be around 40 (try 42 or 43),” Bay said. Navidez said of Usyk.

“I have a lot of respect for Usyk. He’s the greatest of all time. If I had the opportunity to share the ring with him, I wouldn’t say no, but it would probably be the toughest fight I’ve ever had in my life.” Benavid Des said.

Benavidez talking about needing more experience before fighting Usyk sounds weak because he has enough professional experience to come into this fight. Moreover, he was almost ten years younger than him.
