However, he has refused to make any comment at the moment. Devagest Saikia said, “I cannot make any comment until I receive an official hint. It would be inappropriate to make any comment on this issue. The outcome of the match can be anything, but the question is that as soon as we get the information, we will make an official statement on this development.”
Pakistan could face tough boycott
If there is no conflict between India and Pakistan, strict action will be taken against them. According to the rules set by the global body, a forfeit will only be awarded if a team fails to be on the field during the coin toss.
Apart from this, there are also World Test Championship points alignment, no change in the ICC rankings, refusal of top member countries to travel to Pakistan, and finally sanctions on players participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
ICC issues official statement on disagreements
The International Cricket Council issued an official statement, “While the International Cricket Council respects the role of governments on national policy matters, this decision is not in the interest of the global game, nor is it in the interest of fans around the world, including the welfare of millions of fans in Pakistan. The International Cricket Council hopes that the PCB will consider the significant and long-term impact on cricket in its country, as this may affect the global cricket ecosystem, of which it is a member and beneficiary.”
The India vs Pakistan match is a huge event in the world of cricket, even though the rivalry in all tournaments has been one-sided in recent times. India have won five of their last five matches against their archrivals. Both the teams are in good form and won the last bilateral T20I series.
