Battered and isolated Hezbollah drags Lebanon into another war


Lebanese concerns have grown this year as tensions between the United States and Iran have increased, with President Donald Trump deploying what he calls an “armada” to the Middle East and threatening to attack Iran. Tehran has invested billions of dollars in Hezbollah over decades as part of its so-called “axis of resistance” coalition of Middle East proxies. The Lebanese government has warned Hezbollah not to get involved as Iran vows to turn any attack into a regional conflict. The group in turn reportedly assured authorities it would not intervene. But eventually, probably due to pressure from its patrons, it did so.
