Tottenham have responded to reports linking captain Son Heung-min with Barcelona by triggering a clause in his contract that ties him to the club until 2026.
Son’s current deal, signed in 2021, is for four years but has an option for Spurs to extend it by 12 months which they have done to prevent losing the 32-year-old on a free in the summer.
The South Korean’s potential availability has drawn the attention of Barcelona, who are looking for cut-price options given their financial woes.
We are pleased to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-min Son’s contract, which will now run until the summer of 2026 🤍

Liga clubs were also thought to be drawn to Son given his popularity in the Far East and the potential commercial opportunities it would bring.
Son signed for Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 and the club described him as a “modern day great”.
He has scored 431 goals for the club, with 169 of them – fourth most in Spurs’ history.
A four-time Asian Player of the Year, Son won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2021/22 alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah after netting 23 times.
