Last year, Bandai’s SH Figuarts line debuted a new Marvel range inspired by the comic book publisher’s rich heritage of fighting games, especially historical ones. Marvel vs. Capcom franchise. Capturing key Marvel heroes with aesthetics that feel like they were taken from glorious Bengus artwork for games, with only two under the toymaker’s belt—Cyclops and the future Spider-Man—it’s only fitting that a series inspired by classic tag team games is getting a third soon.

After a brief tease late last year, this week Bandai gave us a full look at the third entry in its “Gamerverse” line in the form of another X-Men star, Wolverine. As well as some alternate hands, Logan has two faceplates—one angry with gritted teeth, one angrier with a scream—and what has now become a staple for this line of figures in the form of a pixel-art cartoon backdrop depicting his iconic Fatal Claw hyper combo carving an x-shaped slash across the screen.

While he loses some of the little touches that make Logan’s whole vibe in fighting games (especially his claws, which are less exaggerated and curved here) compared to the honesty of that. MvC By the time the first two figures were adopted, he could still pull off many of his iconic poses from the games, including his adorably angry little squatting animation. It’s a shame he’s more of a very good ’90s-style Wolverine instead of a very good one. Marvel vs. Capcom-a style. But who can look a gift Wolvie in the mouth?

Hopefully this is a sign that things won’t stop anytime soon for either Bandai’s more expensive Figuarts to get these games or Hasbro’s own “Gamerverse” series, which is delivering a bunch of two-packs (and a twist Shum-Gorath is Gargantos.) last year that was also inspired by Capcom’s Marvel history. Wolverine is the first figure produced by both companies in the line, so it will be interesting to see what stands between the two Logans when Bandai’s effort comes out this summer.

SH Figuarts “Gamerverse” Wolverine is currently expected to release in June, with pre-orders going live in Japan next week on February 2.
