Bahrain pacer Ali Dawood beats Indian pacer with historic bowling in T20Is


Bahrain pacer Ali Dawood created history with a 7-wicket spell in the third match of the five-match series between Bahrain and Bhutan and is now ranked as the second-best figure in T20 cricket.

T20 cricket has created a buzz among cricketers across the globe; however, several records have even been set by players from United countries in the recent times. From Dipender Singh Aree’s fastest half-century to Syazul Idrus’ record as the best bowling personality.

Ali Dawood creates history with 7 wickets against Bhutan

In the third T20I of the series, between Bhutan and Bahrain, Bahrain pacer Ali Dawood broke the record by taking 7 wickets and conceding just 19 runs. This is the second-best figure in men’s T20I history.

The 33-year-old pacer became the second bowler after Malaysia’s Syazrul Idrus to take seven wickets in T20 international cricket. With his efforts, he defeated the pursuit of the Bhutanese team in Gelepu and achieved 35 consecutive victories.

Dawood started the attack in the third over of the match, hitting twice to leave the home side 11/3 behind before coming back to take the remaining wickets. He then picked 3 more wickets in the second over and two more wickets in the final over.

Dawood breaks Indian pacer’s previous record in T20Is

Ali Dawood was born in Sialkot, Pakistan and went on to become the second pacer to take seven wickets in T20I matches. He now sits behind former seamer Idrus, who registered an incredible 7/8 against China in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

Apart from them, Singapore’s Harsha Bharadwaj (6-3 vs. Mongolia in 2024), Nigeria’s Peter Aho (6-5 vs. Sierra Leone in 2021) and India’s Deepak Chahar (6-7 vs. Bangladesh in 2019) are among the best performers in T20I cricket.

Chahal holds the record for best bowling figures among all regular members, but Bahrain pacers beat him in the overall record.
