Sam Konstas was selected against India, making him the fourth youngest Test debutant in Australia’s history.
Australian teenager Sam Konstas will make his international debut in the fourth Test against India starting on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
The top-order batsman from Sydney came into the starting eleven in place of opener Nathan McSweeney, who was dropped after averaging a paltry 14.40 in the first three Tests against India.
Constas came into the match against India at the age of 19 years and 85 days, making him the fourth youngest Test debutant in Australia’s history and the youngest since Ian Craig in 1953.
He played only 11 first-class cricket matches for New South Wales, scoring 718 runs at an average of 42.23, with two centuries and three half-centuries.
The last time Konstas played at the MCG, he scored 3 for 73 not out when Australia A faced India A last month.
Australia’s series with India is tied at 1-1 after the third Test match in Brisbane ended in a rain-soaked draw.
