On Thursday, January 1, Cricket Australia (CA) officially announced the Australian national cricket team’s squad for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
The Australian selectors have decided to go with spin-heavy teams considering the conditions India and Sri Lanka are expected to offer during the mega tournament.

Despite injuries to Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David, the selection committee included the trio in the squad and George Bailey said they are currently recovering well.

“The T20 squad’s recent long-term success has enabled the panel to select a balanced field of players across the range of conditions likely to arise in Sri Lanka and India,” chairman of selections George Bailey said.
“Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Tim David are in good form and we are confident they will be able to compete in the World Cup.
“This is a reserve team so if changes need to be made they will be made before the support period.
“The line-up for the three-match T20 series against Pakistan ahead of the World Cup will be finalized at a later date.”
