minister of justice Pam Bundy She will testify before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday, where lawmakers are expected to confront her over the Justice Department’s handling of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex-trafficking case files, numerous high-profile, politically charged indictments and broader structural changes at the Justice Department.
The hearing, which begins at 10 a.m., is Bondi’s first appearance before a House panel since taking the helm of the Justice Department.
While some Republicans may praise Bondi for shifting the Justice Department’s focus to street crime, drug trafficking and illegal immigration, Democrats and other Republicans have said they will grill her on whether the Justice Department is trying to comply with the bill. Epstein files transparency billa law requiring the Justice Department to release all unclassified documents related to the Epstein case.

Republicans on the committee are likely to highlight the Justice Department’s efforts to combat transnational drug trafficking and the opioid epidemic, as well as violent crime and immigration, which the Trump administration has made clear are its top priorities.
In the most prominent drug case brought during Bundy’s tenure, the Justice Department filed superseding indictments against Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro and his wife alleging narco-terrorism conspiracy and firearms charges. After his shocking arrest last month, Maduro and his wife were taken to the Southern District of New York, where they are being held awaiting trial.
Some recent controversial judicial developments may also surface at the hearing.

The move undermines the Justice Department’s high-profile prosecution of the FBI director James Comey New York Attorney General Letitia James led the judges in dismissing the cases.
