Minnesota State Police On Monday, police began arresting anti-ICE agitators outside a hotel after authorities said the demonstrations had escalated and were “no longer considered peaceful,” prompting police to declare the gathering unlawful.
Demonstrators were outside the SpringHill Suites by Marriott hotel in Maple Grove, Minnesota, where they believed U.S. Border Patrol Commander Gregory Bovino was staying.
president Donald Trump The announcement that Bovino and many of his agents will leave Minneapolis as part of a leadership shake-up to implement his immigration crackdown comes as bipartisan scrutiny of Minneapolis’ immigration enforcement operations intensifies after agents were recorded killing a U.S. Border Patrol agent over the weekend.
Border czar Tom Homan is expected to lead the state’s effort.

Maple Grove police said officers responded to reports of a protest at a hotel on Monday that escalated after alleged agitators began throwing objects at officers and damaging property.
After police declared the gathering illegal and issued dispersal orders, several people who refused to leave were arrested, authorities said.
“The Maple Grove Police Department respects and upholds individuals’ First Amendment rights to peacefully assemble and express their views. Our top priority remains the safety of all residents, visitors and property within our community,” a police department spokesperson said in a statement to KSTP.
The spokesperson added: “At this time, the event is no longer considered peaceful. Individuals who engage in criminal conduct are not protected by the First Amendment and are subject to arrest.”

The Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and the Hennepin Public Order Team responded to the scene to assist Maple Grove police.
Bovino’s removal from Minneapolis comes after he faced backlash over unsubstantiated accusations of the killing of 37-year-old U.S. citizen Alex Pretti. border patrol agentAiming to “slaughter” law enforcement, the White House has distanced itself from the president.
Pretty was shot and killed by Border Patrol agents on Saturday while documenting a federal immigration operation in Minneapolis. Preeti, an ICU nurse, was sprayed with an irritant, pushed to the ground and beaten when he appeared to be trying to care for a knocked-out female agent. One agent was seen pulling Preeti’s gun from his waistband before other agents fired several shots, killing him.
Some reports said Bovino was relieved of his duties as the Border Patrol’s “commander-at-large” and would return to his duties as chief patrol agent in El Centro, California, but Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said he was “not relieved of his duties” and remained “a key part of the president’s team.”

Bovino also reportedly had access to his social media accounts as he was stripped of his public comments.

The White House has also sought to distance itself from comments by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, who called Pretty a “domestic terrorist,” and DHS adviser Stephen Miller, who referred to Pretty as a “potential assassin.” White House press secretary Carolyn Leavitt said she “did not hear the president describe that” Pretty.
Pretty’s shooting follows unrest over the killing of Renee Nicole Good by ICE in Minneapolis earlier this month.
