Anthropic Expands Claude’s Free Tier With More Features


Now with OpenAI Ads are added to ChatGPT’s free and cheap plansits competition is having a “field day,” so to speak. Anthropic back to the Super Bowl ads criticized the move and said Claude’s service would remain ad-free. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman responded by saying that OpenAI intends to avoid putting its best features behind a paywall. Now, Anthropic has moved some of its previously paywalled features to its free plan

Now, people are on the fence about whether they should upgrading their AI chatbot there may be reason to stop for now — if the expanded features are meaningful enough. In fact, Anthropic has added a few things to the table in its free plan.

Here’s the new Claude free plan:

Create the file: People can now create and save PowerPoint slides, Excel spreadsheets, Word documents and PDFs from any Claude conversation.

Connectors: Previously a strictly paid feature, select The connectors are now available on the free plan, with Anthropic specifically calling out Google Workspace apps.

Skills: Also previously paywalled, custom Skills sets of instructions that you and Claude can follow, so you don’t have to repeat the request.

Anthropic also provides users with a free plan longer conversations, interactive responsesand improved image and voice search capabilities.

The new features on the free plan add decent value, though the longer talk time per session may be the highlight for most people.

Now that ChatGPT’s most accessible plans contain ads, Claude’s new enhancements will be even more appealing for those looking to make the jump.
