Anthony Joshua It was the first time he spoke in front of the camera since the accident that killed his friends Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele.
Joshua while traveling with the two Their vehicle collided with a truck On December 29, on a busy road in Nigeria.
‘AJ’ was only slightly injured, but Sina and Raz were brutally killed, causing an outpouring of emotion Not just from the boxing community, but from people all over the world.
Post on his YouTube channelJoshua paid a heartfelt tribute to his close friend.
“So I’m in front of the camera. Unfortunately, I won’t be speaking to all of you live. If you knew my character, I would have preferred to do so. But all I want is reality, so this is the best way I can reach you all around the world who showed so much love, care and support during that tragic, painful period when Nigeria lost Ratzi and Sina.
“The last time I spoke to you was in Miami. We had a lot of plans to end 2025, and we were on a mission. We were back home, visiting our families, but everything had changed drastically.
“This was an unforeseen situation and beyond our control. Not only I don’t even want to talk about myself, but not only their parents, their uncles, their cousins, their friends and myself have lost two great people. We’ve lost people that we cared about very much and who were important parts of our lives.”
Joshua had to hold back tears as he continued his tribute.
“It’s hard. It’s really hard. I’m not going to sit here and express all my emotions. I know in this day and age it’s easy to microanalyze people and make judgments, but I know how I feel and that’s all that matters to me. I know what my role is.
“They were my brothers. They were my friends first. Then we became business partners. We became con men. We became lieutenants. We became generals. We became everything. We became roommates. We lived together. We became friends.”
“One day my time will come and I’m not afraid at all. It’s actually comforting to know that I have two brothers on the other side. I’ve lost people before, but I don’t think I’ve ever lost someone like this. The whole journey I’ve been on, my left and my right. I’ve walked with giants and they protect me and protect me.”
Joshua then explained how he will continue to honor their legacy.
“The mission must continue. I understand my role. I understand what they want to do for their families. So my goal is to continue to help them achieve their goals.
“Even though they may not be physically there, when I pray at night, when I pray in the morning, I know spiritually they are going to help me get through it because it’s not just physical energy that’s going to get me through it. It takes a lot of strength from a higher power.
“I will definitely be praying for their families and I will help them achieve their dreams. Not just me, but our entire team, the entire fraternity, the entire sorority, will help them fulfill their legacy and achieve their dreams. But I know in my corner of the world, I know what I’m going to do.
“I know I have to do what’s right for them. I’m going to do what’s right for their families. That’s important to me, they’re very important players, very important team members, very important friends and two of my brothers.
“I don’t think I mentioned love and appreciation. I, they, their families acknowledge that. We are 100 percent grateful to the thousands, if not millions, of people around the world who have shown so much love to both of them.
“We know what we’re about to do. Mom, Raz’s mom, Xena’s mom, Raz’s dad, Xena’s dad, a love. This message represents not only me but the family as well. We thank you so much. Thank you for the love in the world. Keep going. Don’t let it stop. To those who have lost a son, a brother and a piece of love. From us to you, we will send that love right back.”
Joshua has provided no update on his boxing future, which is understandable as, first and foremost, he continues to take time to process the loss of two dear friends.
