Anthony Gordon reacts to Sandro Tonali almost scoring

Newcastle United Last night, the team defeated Brentford 3-1 and advanced to the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Italian midfield maestro Sandro Tonali was particularly impressive for Eddie Howe’s side, scoring twice in the win at St James’ Park and he came close to scoring a hat-trick!

Shortly after Tonali joined the Magpies from AC Milan, he didn’t have much chance to establish himself at Newcastle due to a betting ban at the beginning of last season.

Now, however, the 24-year-old is back with the team and playing at a very high level, and it’s clear he has the support of his teammates.

Newcastle could be Carabao Cup contenders again

Newcastle look in good shape to beat a strong Brentford side, and players like Tonali and Gordon can certainly make this team a Carabao Cup contender this season.

It’s worth noting that NUFC reached the final of this competition in 2022/23, losing to Manchester United at the time, but they will undoubtedly be hungry for trophies and they look good enough to do so.

This has not been the most consistent season for the giants, but they have shown their performance and the cup is more suitable for them than pursuing the top four in the Premier League.
