Demetrius Andrade warns Canelo Alvarez to avoid him after losing to former conqueror David Benavidez in sixth round in 2023 . Andrade thought Benavidez (29-0, 24 KOs) was too big and threw too many combinations for Canelo to beat him.
It’s understandable that Demetrius would try to make Benavidez sound invincible, as it would lessen the impact of him beating him. In that fight, his pride was shattered and he suffered the first defeat of his career. So he’s trying to protect his ego by making Benavidez sound like a great talent when, in fact, he’s not.
Benavidez’s next opponent
We saw that in his game against the 37-year-old Alexander Gvozdyk June 15th. Gvozdyk, who had just come out of a four-year retirement with a victory over Benavidez, had various bumps on his face.
Canelo has not mentioned wanting to fight “Mexican Monster” Benavidez, with the two fighters now fighting in different weight classes. The 28-year-old Benavidez is competing at light heavyweight and will challenge for the WBA regular 175-pound title David Morel On February 1st, it lasted 33 days and was held at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
If Benavidez loses this fight by knockout, he may move back to the 168-pound division if he can still make weight. There’s no use holding him at 175 if Morel (11-0, 9 KOs) destroys him. Morel is as big as Benavidez, but faster, hits harder, is younger and has better skills.
Morel has a good chance of winning this fight and solving Canelo’s problems permanently, not that he needs help. Andrade, 36, may have been impressed by Benavidez’s offensive skills, but he’s not a knockout fighter. He couldn’t even stop Caleb Plant.
The only reason he stopped Andrade was because of his size and youth advantage. He was only 26 years old when he defeated Dmitry on November 25 last year.
Don’t do this!
“I don’t think Canelo beat David (Benavidez). I don’t blame him for not fighting David. Canelo, stay away from David. Don’t do this,” Demetrius ·Andrade vs. battle center tv. “I’m taller and longer than Canelo. I don’t know if Canelo can beat Benavidez. That’s a big boy.
“You have to have the right skills, moves, IQ and sharpness to beat David, and unless David fights the next big guy at 175, it’s not going to be the same. But you’re 168 and that’s the only way to beat him .
“Canelo is smaller than me and I was able to push David around for a few rounds and do what I had to do. But his weight and height, and the fact that he knows how to punch in a row, that’s going to be great for Canelo. is a difficult task.
“David is not a guy who takes it easy on you either. Canelo didn’t beat him,” Andrade said of his belief that Benavidez can’t be beaten by Alvarez.
Canelo should have fought Benavidez by now, but he talks too much trash and comes across as needy. Benavidez seemed to be frighteningly focused on Alvarez, almost like a stalker. As with any popular boxer, if anyone sounds so obsessed with Benavidez’s image, they’ll ignore him as well.
