tottenham hotspur team leader Christian Romero It’s already making headlines this week, and for all the wrong reasons.
In preparation for Tottenham’s loss Manchester UnitedThe Argentine centre-back’s captaincy was called into question at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon after he issued a statement after last weekend’s draw with Manchester City, criticizing the board for “shamefully” allowing Thomas FrankThe team became so exhausted.
This is nothing against Frank, but it is the latest in a long line of disappointing incidents that have seen many at Tottenham feel the Danish coach’s position is untenable.
Latest news on Thomas Frank’s Spurs future
ENIC Group and the Lewis family were forced to re-examine Frank’s place in the Tottenham dugout during the January transfer window, just months after sacking Anj Postkoglu and shaping a new era.
It’s sad to see Frank in many ways, but his pragmatic tactics and general lack of creativity and inspiration have soured the mood among fans, with many truly feeling like he’s on borrowed time.
If Tottenham are forced to make changes, it goes without saying that their course of action needs to bear fruit; let’s be honest, fans are tired of inconsistency and incompetence.
According to TEAMtalkPowers show interest in USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettinohe has said “yes” to the idea of making a sensational comeback on N17.
If Tottenham really wanted to re-appoint Pochettino to turn their woes around, they wouldn’t sign him before the end of the upcoming World Cup.
Regardless, the interest in the Argentinian is understandable. If Frank is sacked, John Heitinga is the frontrunner to join Tottenham until the summer.
There are other options on the market, but maybe Poch is worth the wait.
Why Poch can revive Tottenham and Romero
Angie Ball once commanded the awe of Tottenham fans, but there’s no denying that Pochettino has instilled the club’s most engaging style and identity over the years. Despite failing to win any trophies, the 53-year-old’s tenure is still remembered.
Not only did he lead the Lilywhites to the Champions League final and maintain a top-four finish in the Premier League for four seasons, finishing second with 86 points in 2016/17, but he also did it with a beautiful and coherent system that Dele Alli once marveled at as the head coach’s “amazing” Tactical knowledge.
With that in mind, Poch could be the man to reignite Spurs’ energy. Not only does he understand the club, but he brings a balanced identity that can bring fans back into the fold.
He could be the man to resurrect Sergio Romero, who is ostensibly seeking an exit but may want to remain at the helm with Pochettino in place of Frank.
Despite his flaws, Romero remains one of the most talented centre-backs in the world. In fact, when you compare his stats to those of his co-stars, Mickey van de Venyou start to see how much he brings to the table.

Pochettino knows a thing or two about building a strong and dynamic backline. After all, Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld are two of the greatest Spurs defenders of the modern era. They were the cornerstone of the team when they reached the Champions League final and were indispensable when Spurs challenged at the bottom of the table. Maybe the same thing happens here? Van de Veen and Romero are both good enough to replicate this partnership.
From a technical standpoint, Romero is probably the best of all these names. The 2022 World Cup winner could be headed to Madrid for one reason or another, but he could end up getting back to his best under Mauricio Pochettino.
Of course, there are also the little things about his future, Recent reports indicate – before his recent defeat to Manchester United – was unhappy with the intensity of interest from Spanish suitors.
But the Argentinian star is contracted in north London until 2029 and the Lewis family will not short-change themselves by accepting any old offers.
