Amanda Serrano vs. Reina Tellez this Saturday on DAZN

Serrano has traveled enough to know that fighting at home goes both ways. It can feed you or it can drain you. She understands the risks.

“When I fight here in Puerto Rico, it’s a different emotion because the love is real. We bring it in a different way. Boricuas brings it in a different way.”

Before the conversation turned to Reina Telles, Serrano paused for a more important reason. She referenced the loss in Anthony Joshua’s camp, speaking like one fighter talking to another.

“I also want to express my condolences and respect for what happened to AJ. His best friend passed away. So I hope they rest in peace. My heart goes out to them and the family.”

The room fell silent. This silence tells its own story. When the conversation returned to the fight, Serrano remained focused.

“We’re going to go in there and do what we have to do. We’re going to give the fans what they’re paying for.”

There is no angle. There is no slogan. Just a pro about to make another transition.

What are you waiting for?

Serrano made it clear why the ordeal continues. The topic of equality was raised again, but this time without any embellishment.

“Because we want change in the future. I’ve been in this industry for 17 years and I want equality for these women. We want bigger paydays. We want recognition.”

It sounds like fatigue. She’s had splits and broadcast cards long enough to earn the right to ask for more.

Serrano: “These women, as amateurs, they only fight three minutes, so why not as pros? They have to change their whole game plan. They have to change their whole game and style to go pro, but I just think it’s better for us women to be able to show off our skills and knockout abilities.”

Serrano brings experience and pace that can overwhelm opponents when stable. Tellez brings timing, patience and a chin that’s not broken yet. One click. Another wait.

It won’t crown new stars, but it will reveal who retains its shape as the building shakes for others. The answer will come when the bell cuts through the noise.
