Lauren Goode: I don’t remember that.
Zoë Schiffer: I think it’s his.
Michael Calore: I don’t know why everyone is looking at me.
Lauren Goode: Yes. Mike, what is your recommendation?
Michael Calore: Mine is actually surprisingly involved in this unboxing we’ve done, because I want to recommend the seasonings. So everyone has something they want to put in their food. I have a friend who puts Jordanian za’atar on absolutely everything. I have a friend who loves the very expensive, fancy Meyer lemon olive oil that is $25 a bottle and pours it over their breakfast every day. Maybe a chili crisp with…
Zoë Schiffer: Oh my gosh. I just wanted to say.
Michael Calore: Right, because chili crisps can be 20 bucks.
Zoë Schiffer: Very expensive.
Michael Calore: Very expensive. So just get them a year’s supply. You know they will use it. And it’s completely conscious. It shows that you care, that you have enough insight into their lives to know them well enough as a person to know how to make them happy. So yeah, that’s…
Zoë Schiffer: That’s a good one.
Michael Calore: If you can’t decide, I don’t know what size they are. I don’t know if they read this book. I don’t know if they’re going to use it, get them something that you know they love and you know they’re going to use.
Zoë Schiffer: That’s a good one. This is great, because it’s hard to get yourself one. I keep running into that problem because my brother and my mother are both chefs. So they come home, they give me these really expensive ones, for example, the Momofuku Chili Crisp, and then I’m like, “Well, I’m addicted to that. I need it in all my meals all the time.” And then I go to buy it, and I’m like, “$18 for this little…” No, I can’t.
Lauren Goode: Honestly, that’s my favorite topping. Momofuku Chili Crisp.
Zoë Schiffer: You can put it on everything.
Michael Calore: Have you tried Jing’s Fly?
Lauren Goode: No.
Zoë Schiffer: Oh, that’s good too. This is a Sichuan pepper.
Michael Calore: Amazing.
Zoë Schiffer: It’s really yummy.
Lauren Goode: This is great. God, I feel like I’m literally recommending Snake Oil and everyone’s like, “Oh, Mike. Yeah. Thanks.” Now I’m hungry.
