Carlos Alcaraz somehow reached his first Australian Open final by beating Alexander Zverev in a five-set epic.
Alcaraz won 6-4 7-6 6-7 6-7 7-5 before the 22-year-old struggled with injury from the third set and Xavier served for the match in the fifth set.
It was the longest ever Australian Open semi-final at five hours and 27 minutes.
Alcaraz, who needs an Aussie title to complete a Grand Slam, will face either Janic Siner or Novak Djokovic in the second semi on Friday.
Third seed Zverev was bidding for his first major title after three runner-up finishes and his narrow defeat will leave him crushed.
