The Australian was highly critical of the Spurs approach which has seen them fall into a relegation battle.
the former Tottenham Manager Ange Postecoglou has claimed Spurs are “not a big club”. Expulsion of Thomas Frank.
Spurs parted company with Postecoglou at the end of last season despite the Australian leading them to Europa League glory. Tottenham finished 17th in Postecoglou’s second and final season, losing 22 of his 38 Premier League games.
Although the decision to replace Frank backfired, Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat against Newcastle United marked the end of his miserable and short spell in charge.
While Tottenham have reached the last 16 of the Champions League, they are justified Above three to five points With 12 games to play and in danger of dropping out of the top flight for the first time since 1977.
Postecoglou hits Tottenham
Although Postecoglou’s reputation took a further hit this season with a brief spell at Nottingham Forest in which he failed to win a league game, the former Celtic boss took aim at Spurs in an appearance on The Overlap’s ‘Stick to Football’ podcast.
“Having been in that position twice now in the last six months, it’s tough,” Postecoglou said of being relieved of his duties.
“You know that can’t be the only issue at the club. It’s a strange club, Tottenham. With not only myself but (executive chair) Daniel (Levy) leaving at the end of last year, and you’ve created this whole atmosphere of uncertainty.
“Any manager you bring in there’s no guarantee – they’ve had a world-class manager there and they haven’t had success. And for what reason? Thomas going in and what’s his aim, what’s the club’s aim?
“If you’re going to do such a big major, you have to understand there’s going to be some volatility. Does Thomas know he’s going into it? I don’t know.”

Postecoglou expressed his belief that Tottenham’s ambitions are not reflected by their activity in the transfer market.
“They’ve built an incredible stadium, incredible training facilities but, when you look at their spending and especially their wage structure, they’re not a big club,” he explained.
“I saw that because, when we were trying to sign players, we weren’t in the market for those players.
“When you go to Tottenham, what you see everywhere is ‘to dare is to do’ (the club’s motto), and yet their actions are almost the opposite of that.
“I think they didn’t realize that, to actually win, you have to take some risks. I thought Tottenham as a club were saying: ‘We’re one of the big boys.’ And the reality is I don’t think they are.”
Asked about the ‘Spursy’ tag often associated with Tottenham and the apparent lack of belief in success, Postecoglou replied: “One hundred per cent, and that was something I was trying to break.
“And then you win something and tear it down and what do you do? You tear it all up and you go again. And it’s not because it’s me, but what are you trying to achieve?”
