Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed is once again stirring up the buzz and this time his message is clearly aimed at India ahead of their big clash in the 2026 T20 World Cup. Abrar Ahmed helped Pakistan beat Australia by 22 runs in the first T20I at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on January 29.

Abrar Ahmed sparks tension ahead of India’s 2026 T20 World Cup match

The star spinner returned with impressive figures of 2/10 in four overs, but it was his celebrations that grabbed everyone’s attention in Lahore on Thursday. After Pakistan’s thrilling win over Australia, he was asked if he would continue his special celebrations at the 2026 T20 World Cup. Abrar issued an indirect yet public warning to the Indian cricket team.

He mentioned that he will definitely continue his signature celebrations against certain teams. “Look, I will continue to do whatever I want to do. There are a few teams that I will definitely continue to do,” Abrar Ahmed told reporters at the post-match press conference in Lahore.

Abrar’s indirect message was immediately seen as a warning to India, with the two rivals set to clash in Colombo on February 15 in one of the most important matches of the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Abrar Ahmed’s controversial celebration against India

The Pakistan spinner is known for his aggressive celebrations, especially against India. His most famous and controversial move was shaking his head in celebration. Such celebrations have gotten him into trouble many times in the past.

During the 2025 Champions Trophy, Abrar dismissed Shubman Gill with a smart carrom shot. After taking the wicket, he looked at Gill and made a strong bowing motion to signal him to “get out”. The move made many people uncomfortable, who called the celebration disrespectful.

In the 2025 Asian Cup final, he did the same thing again after knocking out Sanju Samson. This move once again attracted people’s attention. After the final, Indian players Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana and Jitesh Sharma were mocked for imitating Abrar’s head-down celebration.

They did this to Samson in jest, to mock Abrar. Now, as the 2026 T20 World Cup approaches, Abra Ahmed has made it clear that he has no plans to change his celebrations, especially against India.

Pakistan vs Australia 1st T20I Highlights

Meanwhile, Pakistan finally broke their seven-year drought and got the job done in dramatic fashion with a thrilling victory over Australia in T20I cricket. Australia were chasing a target of 168 but never looked settled as the Pakistan bowlers kept hitting the ball and not allowing any partnership to settle.

Wickets fell frequently and the chase soon got out of Australia’s control. Travis Head tried to give some early hope but managed only 23 runs before falling. Cameron Green fought harder and once held his head high with 36 points, but he could not find support at the other end.

Several Australian players retired without even facing 15 balls against Pakistan. The biggest surprise came from pacer Xavier Bartlett, who bravely batted in the final seconds. He scored an unbeaten 34 off 25 balls and attempted the impossible. However, with no support around him, his efforts were not enough to save Australia from defeat.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan had done well under pressure. Young opener Saim Ayub scored a confident 40 while captain Salman Ali Agha posted a steady 39 in the middle overs to lead Pakistan past the 160-run mark. Adam Zampa took four wickets against the home team.
