A married high school physical education teacher has been charged with two counts of third-degree sexual assault after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a male student.

The student claimed that their relationship escalated during his junior year. He told investigators that Collins often complimented his appearance and at one point asked to wear his jersey at a school pep rally.

He further claimed that Collins invited him to meet near her home in Cranston and they kissed in his car. In a later encounter, she allegedly climbed into the back seat and performed sexual contactaccording to the affidavit. The student denied having sex with her.

When questioned by investigators, Collins denied “physical contact” beyond a single kiss but admitted to flirting and exchanging text messages containing “sexual innuendos,” the affidavit states.

She also admitted to sending the photos and videos and told investigators the two discussed plans to have sex once he turned 18, but she said they never acted on those plans.

The Foster-Gloucester Area School District said Collins resigned from the school on Oct. 1, 2025, WJAR reported.

In a statement obtained by the outlet, the district said it is cooperating with authorities and will refer further investigation to state police.
