justin timberlake The Village of Sag Harbor is suing in an attempt to suppress the release of body camera footage from his 2024 arrest, according to documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

Timberlake, 45, pleaded guilty to “driving while ability impaired” in September 2024 and underwent community service in addition to a public apology as part of his plea deal.

The “Can’t Stop The Feeling” singer filed a petition on Monday opposing Port Keyes Village Police Department; Robert Drake, in his official capacity as chief of police for the Sag Harbor Village Police Department; and the Village of Sag Harbor to prevent eight hours of footage from the night of Timberlake’s arrest from being released to the public.

In the petition, Timberlake’s legal team claims they were notified on March 1 that the department intended to release all eight hours of his body camera footage in response to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIL) request. Arrested on June 18, 2024the content was subject to “undisclosed edits for ‘medical’ reasons and the safety of the Sag Harbor Police Complex.”

Timberlake argued that the video “contains personally identifiable information and private details that are not relevant to any law enforcement action of public concern and will not be viewed by the public unless law enforcement officers are present and recording.”

“The footage at issue depicts petitioner in an extremely vulnerable state during a roadside encounter with law enforcement, capturing intimate details of petitioner’s appearance, demeanor, speech, and behavior during a field sobriety test, subsequent arrest, and petitioner’s post-arrest incarceration in the hours that followed,” the petition states.

“Public dissemination of this video would cause serious and irreparable damage to the applicant’s personal and professional reputation, subject the applicant to public ridicule and harassment, and would be inconsistent with the legitimate public interest in understanding the workings of government.”

Timberlake asked the court to “enjoin the full or partial disclosure of the body camera footage because it is an unwarranted invasion of privacy and is not subject to the disclosure restrictions under FOIL.”

“The harm caused by the public exposure – humiliation, harassment, damage to reputation and permanent loss of privacy – is immediate and irreparable,” the document states.

Timberlake “performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests” when he was pulled over by authorities on the morning of June 18, arresting officials said in documents obtained by Fox News Digital.

The complaint states that Timberlake’s eyes were “bloodshot and glossy,” there was a “strong odor of alcoholic beverages on his breath,” and he was “unable to distract.” The “Cry Me A River” singer also exhibited “slow speech” and “unsteady steps.”

Timberlake’s lawyerEdward Burke Jr. previously claimed police made “significant mistakes” during the musician’s arrest in June.

“The most important fact to know about this case is that Justin was not drunk and should not have been arrested for driving under the influence,” Burke said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “The police made some very significant mistakes in this case. In court today, you heard the DA trying to correct one of those mistakes. But that was just one of them, there were many others. Sometimes police make mistakes, and this is just one of them.”

Shortly after Timberlake’s guilty plea, he apologized for his actions in a public confession.

“It was a mistake that I made, but I hope that people watching and listening now learn from that mistake,” Timberlake said. “I know of course I have. Like I said, don’t drive even if you have one drink.”

Timberlake was initially charged The district attorney’s office confirmed to Fox News Digital at the time that the case involved one count of driving while intoxicated, as well as tickets for failure to keep right and failure to stop at a stop sign.

The pop star told arresting officers he had a martini and was following some friends home, documents show. After being arrested and taken to a police station in nearby East Hampton, he refused to take a breath test, according to court documents, which listed his occupation as “professional” and described him as “self-employed.”
