The new boss is already under a lot of pressure…

“We’re OK now, but we could be in big, big trouble. So everyone has to come together to achieve what we want to achieve.

“Get through this season and then we’ll see what happens next.”

Ardiles discussed Tottenham Hotspur’s precarious situation on a landmark occasion for his old team-mate Mickey Hazard, who is behind mental health charity Legends from the Bench alongside his sister Michelle.

Hazard unveiled the 100th park bench designed by Legend On The Bench at Harlow Water Gardens last Thursday, with several Spurs superstars including Ardiles in attendance.

Former England goalkeeper Pat Jennings and former Tottenham Hotspur captain Gary Mabbutt also attended a landmark event for the charity, which was set up after Hazard’s nephew Jay committed suicide in 2019.

“Yeah, it’s a very, very amazing achievement. I was with him when he started doing this and he started very small but it’s amazing how it grew,” Adiles reflected.

“Micky is the driving force. I come in, take pictures, talk a lot of nonsense, but the right work and hard work is all down to him.”

“His goal was small, but it kept getting bigger and he kept working harder and harder. And now we’re where we are now. It’s an incredible achievement.”
