Mboko took out the form Rybakina Reached the WTA 1000 level semi-finals for the second time. She also won her first WTA 1000 title at last year’s Canadian Open, defeating Kazakhstan. A year ago she was ranked outside the top 200. Now, regardless of the outcome of the other semi-final, a win over Ostapenko will guarantee her a top-10 finish on her debut.

However, if Mboko loses, she can still make the top ten, provided Maria Sakkari Defeat Karolina Muchova, or the latter ultimately lost in the final. Before this week, Ostapenko had not won consecutive matches since the 2025 French Open. She once again proved why the Qatar Open is her happy place.

Ostapenko has reached the Qatar Open singles finals twice and won the doubles title. She also reached the semifinals in two events this year. Mboko will be well prepared to deal with Ostapenko after taking on an aggressive baseline player like Rybakina.

Unlike other big names in the game, Ostapenko was not deterred by his mistakes and stuck to his game plan. However, her serve is a liability and Mboko’s is not. Beyond that, the teenager’s consistency and defense should help her advance to the finals.

Pick: Victoria Mboko won in straight sets.
