Macron resolves controversy by appointing loyalists to head key French institutions




French President Emmanuel Macron on Wednesday nominated his budget minister, Amélie de Montchalin, to head the country’s top audit body — a position she could hold for decades to come. Critics say this is part of Macron’s growing push to shut down national institutions and leave his mark outside the presidency.
