The murder rate in Arab communities in Israel is on the rise




Shocking crime rates are rising in Arab communities in Israel, with one Arab citizen killed on average every 36 hours in 2025. This week alone, five people were shot to death in less than 24 hours. In Middle East Matters this week, our reporter Claire Duhamel traveled to Nazareth to investigate organized crime and gang violence, and we spoke with Ibrahim Abu Ahmad, a Palestinian citizen of Israel and a peace activist, about the causes and possible solutions to this violence.
