Waymo unveiled its sixth generation self-driving technology in 2024 and testing it on public roads. Previously used by Jaguars, the company integrated its sixth-gen tech into new cars, starting with the Ojai (also known as the Zeekr RT) and then the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

Waymo is promoting the Waymo Driver vision system, which combines cleaning systems to maintain visibility in rain and other inclement weather. The company’s sixth-generation lidar and radar can be seen clearly even when the cameras can’t. Waymo said it will continue to expand autonomous travel to new cities as it works to open to the public later this year.
