It’s PlayStation first State of Play of the year shaping up to be good news. While Sony hasn’t revealed much about what it will show (with one rare exception), the stream is set to last for over an hour, so there should be at least some interesting stuff. The showcase starts at 5PM ET on February 12. You can click the play button on YouTube video above to see the State of Play in English when the time is right.
The PlayStation YouTube channel hosts alternative versions of the stream. One has English subtitles and the other is on Japanese. Otherwise, you can react to all the reveals live in Twitching chat.
The showcase will include “news, game updates and announcements from game studios around the world,” Sony said. It “spotlights eye-catching third-party and indie games on their way to PS5, along with the latest from the teams at PlayStation Studios.”
Sony’s slate of first-party games has been pretty slim over the past few years, but the company is gearing up to release a trio of them in the next few months. It is likely that these three (saros, Marathon and MLB The Show 26) will appear during the State of Play. Bungie has confirmed that Marathon is definitely in the mix, even if it dispels rumors that another playtest for the shooter will take place this weekend.
There are positive signs for the news on the Silent Hill front as well. Konami has set a Silent Hill Transmission presentation for 7PM on Thursday, shortly after State of Play. That stream will include new information about Silent Hill: Townfall, that was before Office has partnered back in 2022, but we can also see the game during State of Play.
Elsewhere, we can get an update on Marvel Tōkon: Fighting SoulsA great looking tag-fighting game from Arc System Works published by Sony. Set to arrive this year on PS5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store). A recent update on the game’s Steam page – which was quickly restored – Revelation that the game has 20 fighters at the beginning, with more to come. The timing of the leak suggests that Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls may appear during State of Play.
However, Marvel’s Wolverinethat is is scheduled to arrive this fallmay not be featured during this particular State of Play. Developed by Insomniac Games indicated by X that it will reveal more details about the game this spring. However, this will not completely prevent Sony from showing the game at the showcase on Thursday. Maybe we’ll even get a release date, if that’s a given GTA VI (a game that most publishers want to stay away from) now actually seems to be on the way coming in November.
