Ishan Kishan creates history with whirlwind strike against Namibia


Ishan Kishan played a brilliant game in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2026 match between India and Namibia on Thursday (February 12). The left-hander scored a stunning 50 to get India off to an explosive start.

With Abhishek Sharma out, Ishan Kishan has the onus to spearhead the side. Sanju Samson performed well at the top, hitting three sixes and a four in the first two overs, but it didn’t last long. He scored 22 runs off the last ball of the second over.

On the other hand, Ishan Kishan got into form by hitting JJ Smit for two fours in the third over. He hit two more fours in the next two overs before going all out against Smit in the sixth round.

Ishan Kishan defeated JJ Smit:

The final over of the powerplay began with Smit bowling a dot ball and then Ishan Kishan hit four consecutive sixes. He completed his fifty off just 20 balls in the last ball of the over, hitting four. He wasn’t done yet, as he also hit a six and a four against Max Heingo. Overall, he hit seven consecutive boundaries.

Ishan Kishan makes history:

Ishan Kishan’s impressive knock finally came to an end in the eighth over when he was dismissed by Namibia captain Gerhard Erasmus. Erasmus’s delivery was flatter and Kishan hit it straight to the fielder at deep mid-wicket.

India scored 61 runs in their first match from just 24 balls with the help of 4 sixes and 5 fours. Before leaving, Kishan also created history by becoming the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a half-century in a T20 World Cup. He also now holds the record for the highest score by an Indian wicketkeeper in the T20 World Cup.

India is expected to post a huge total:

India were expected to score a huge total thanks to Ishan Kishan’s explosive knock. At the end of the 13th over, the score for the Men in Blue was 134/4. With six overs remaining, the home team is targeting over 200 overs.

After Kishan was sacked, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma, among others, also left. At the time of writing this report, Shivam Dube and Hardik Pandya are in the middle order and will be onus to lead the team to a huge total.
