France cuts renewable energy targets, expands nuclear power with new law




France is set to adopt a new energy law by decree this week that cuts the country’s renewable energy targets and massively expands nuclear power generation. The law change comes as a relief for state-owned electricity supplier EDF, which has been mandated to shut down some of its nuclear power plants and is grappling with price pressure from European solar and wind power producers.
