Amazon announced Wednesday that it plans to add about 2,000 new places to its list of same-day prescription delivery locations. It will expand the delivery service to more than 4,500 locations by the end of the year.

Amazon Pharmacy is around the corner since 2020 and currently delivers to all 50 states and Washington, DC. Its drug delivery service serves as an alternative for those who need timely medication and live in underserved areas or lack proximity to a brick-and-mortar pharmacy.

The expansion will now include areas in Idaho and Massachusetts affected by pharmacy closings and other limited access to care.

“By combining our pharmacy expertise with our logistics network, we’re removing critical barriers and helping patients start treatment faster — setting a new standard for accessible, digital-forward pharmacy care,” John Love, vice president of Amazon Pharmacy, said in a statement.

There are various programs available through Amazon Pharmacy, including RxPasswhich costs $5 per month for Amazon Prime subscribers. RxPass also allows access to the uninsured and allows them to save up to 80% on generic drugs and 40% on brand-name drugs.

Most recently, in 2025, Amazon Pharmacy introduced a about caregiver supportwhich allows families to manage medical subscriptions for other family members. Treating health care like a family affair is gaining little traction. The co-founders of Fitbit were recently introduced Luffu, an AI health-tracking app which allows caregivers to store their family’s health data in one place.

Amazon Pharmacy also has kiosks that allow subscribers to pick up prescriptions in some clinic lobbies, and plans to expand these kiosks this year.
