San Francisco 49ers defensive end Keon White is in “good spirits” after undergoing surgery for a gunshot wound early Monday morning in San Francisco.

san francisco police department Make a statement At around 4:06 a.m. Monday, police “responded to a business in the 1700 block of Mission Street in reference to a shooting.”
Upon arrival, officers found White suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his ankle. His injuries were determined to be non-life threatening and he was taken to hospital.
“Preliminary investigation revealed a verbal altercation occurred between two groups within a business,” the statement continued. “The victim was injured when shots were fired by an unknown suspect. All information is preliminary at this time and more information will be provided as it becomes available.”
The incident occurred hours after the Seattle Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots at Levi’s Stadium in White’s home court of Santa Clara, California.

White was spotted wearing Patriots gear to games on his Instagram account super bowl. He played five games for the Patriots this season before joining the 49ers via trade before the NFL deadline.
The 49ers sent a 2026 sixth-round pick to the Patriots in exchange for White and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
White has 1.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in nine games (two starts) with the 49ers this season, including six quarterback hits. He also recorded a sack and four tackles in San Francisco’s two postseason games.

Another 49ers player, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall, was shot in the chest during a robbery in August 2024. Pearsall missed the first six games of his rookie season with the injury and has since made a full recovery.
