Speaking after a game with Wolves in which Forest had 35 shots on goal, Dyche sounded like a man who knew what was coming.

He said: “The owner has been fair with me, without a shadow of a doubt. If someone chooses to change football now, that’s their decision. We’ve all seen that.

“People can demand change, and then it always changes or not.

“If the owner wants to make a change, that’s up to him, and that’s the way football is now, that’s just the reality of it.

“I understand that the tone here has changed considerably since the last few games.”
