Out-of-favour Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has not been picked by any PSL team since 2020, humiliating the batsman who once represented the national team. He subsequently quit the PSL and refused to include his name in the PSL draft. Addressing the same issue, he accused the board of not seeking clarification from him.
Pakistan players have never given up criticizing their own boards due to repeated mistreatment. Especially with the increasing prominence of social media and some other public speaking platforms, these voices have come forward and reached the masses.
Out-of-favour Pakistan cricketer Ahmed Shehzad has been snubbed by the PSL for the past five years after the PSL draft auction ended. Shehzad played a key role in Quetta Gladiators’ victory in 2019 but was not selected to play for any PSL team after 2020.

When Ahmed Shehzad was asked how he felt when he saw his peers still continuing to play in the PSL while he was not being considered, he was quick to say that while he was happy for them, he was sad about his own situation.
Apart from this, Shehzad also said that there are many players playing in PSL, close to 500 players, but only a few are as hyped as him. Every time before the PSL auction, fans initiate campaigns in support of Shehzad and eagerly await his return to the PSL.
Quoting his crazed fan base, Ahmed Shehzad said, “There are 500 players playing in the PSL; however, I don’t see their names anywhere but there are some events in my name. However, despite this, no one puts their ego aside and comes to talk to me.”
Ahmed Shehzad banned from PSL?
Ahmed Shehzad accused the Pakistan Cricket Board of not clarifying his stance on the franchise and not discussing and resolving the issues that once existed with him.
“When new teams came in and had conversations, one of them knew that the PCB had banned me. They were unaware of the reality; some thought I had retired from the league and some thought I was banned from the PSL. They didn’t have any clarity at all,” Shehzad said.
“Just like Babar Azam watched when he was playing in the BBL. If I was part of the league, people would also watch the PSL. Some would watch out of hate and some would watch my neutral batting out of love,” he said, promising to bring capital to the PSL from viewership and advertising.
Ahmed Shehzad went on to term Babar Azam as his junior and claimed that given his vast experience in the sport, he can bring leadership to whichever side he is drafted to.
Ahmed Shehzad cries on national TV
After making all these statements, the out-of-favour Pakistan opener was almost in tears as he remembered the worst moment for him when his 9-year-old son wanted him to play but he was no longer a part of any cricket in Pakistan.
Shehzad said in a heavy voice: “My 9-year-old son wants me to play.” He mentioned that his son now wants to watch him play because he was too young the last time he saw him play and has no memory of it.
Ultimately, he concluded, it’s difficult for a player like him to make such a difficult decision to let go of his pride and approach anyone from his perspective. However, if the PCB makes progress, he will definitely keep his promise and return to the PSL competition.
