Young Indian batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s schedule remains full as he continues to attract attention. Just weeks before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the 14-year-old batsman is expected to feature in the DY Patil T20 tournament in Navi Mumbai, a highly competitive corporate event.
DY Patil T20 tournament is participated by 16 teams every year. Notably, this tournament is one of the oldest T20 tournaments in India, having been started in 2003. The match was held at the DY Patil Stadium, which has hosted major matches including the Women’s World Cup final, World Cup warm-up matches and some IPL matches.

According to a Cricbuzz report, talks between Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s team and DY Patil tournament organizers are about to be finalized. The report adds that the young batsman’s chances of playing in the tournament are very high.

Notably, the DY Patil T20 tournament will begin on February 23, just before the IPL season. It usually attracts domestic and foreign players because of its high-scoring conditions.
In recent editions, many well-known players have participated in this event. Players like Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Shivam Dube, Nehal Wadhera and Deepak Chahar have participated in the competition.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will receive a motorcycle as a special gift after impressing at the Under-19 World Cup. The speech is expected to take place at a promotional event in his home state of Bihar.
Vaibhav lives in Samastipur, about 85 km from Patna, where the event is being held. Since he’s not old enough to ride a motorcycle, he’ll probably come home as a pillion rider with his new gift. He is training at the Rajasthan Royals training ground in Talegaon near Nagpur.
“He is currently training in Talegaon where the Rajasthan Royals training camp is ongoing. The camp will continue till February 21 after which Sooryavanshi will leave for Patna and then return to his hometown,” Cricbuzz quoted a source as saying.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi performed brilliantly in the Under-19 World Cup. In the final against England in Harare on February 6, he hit 175 off 80 balls, including 15 fours and 15 sixes. He reached his hundred in just 55 balls. India won the title for the sixth time and Suryavansh was named the man of the match.
He scored 439 runs in seven innings at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.50. Former England player Mark Butcher has compared his batting style to Sir Gary Sobers.
Sooryavanshi started his IPL journey with a six-ball knock off Shardul Thakur and later became India’s fastest scorer with a century, reaching the 35-ball milestone. During IPL 2025, he scored 252 runs in 7 games at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 206.55.
