February 11: Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scores on Celtic debut

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scores the late winner celtics William Hill made their Premier League debut, beating Livingston 2-1 at home.

The visitors looked set to earn a point after Robbie Muirhead’s penalty canceled out Marcelo Saraki’s first-half opener.

Oxlade-Chamberlain Celtics-2

Celtic struck first when Callum McGregor saw a low shot pushed away by Jerome Pryor and Tomas Kavankara should have done better than fire it towards the keeper’s arm.

Livingston responded early, with May’s shot well blocked by Schmeichel.

However, most of the opportunities lie on the other side. Levy goalkeeper Pryor did well to keep out Turnetki’s shot, and less than a minute later he saved Nygren’s shot, while Maeda, who followed closely, was unable to pass the rebound to Cole.

Another McGregor shot was saved by Prior, but Celtic finally broke through from a corner after 15 minutes.

Engels took a corner kick to the edge of the penalty area, Saraki took a touch and controlled the ball before firing the ball past the goalkeeper for Celtic’s first goal.

The home side continued to apply pressure and Nygren’s beautiful turn was again saved by Prior, before Engels came off injured and was replaced by Hatat.

Celtic had their first chance of the second half when Liam Scales headed home before Livingston equalized. Hartart brought down Moorhead in the box and the forward made no mistake and the penalty was awarded.

Celtic went for the winning goal and in injury time, Oxlade-Chamberlain scored maximum points when he fired into the far corner from the edge of the penalty area.
